Remington 700 with a Lyman aperture sight?

I have an older (late 70's) remington 700 BDL .30-06 and it is drilled & tapped on the side of the left side of the receiver for a aperture sight.
Lyman makes a model 57 that will fit it.
Would like to see a picture of a 700 with the aperture sight on it.
Can anyone tell me what year Remington ceased d&t on the receiver for this option?

I can't answer your question on when they quit the d&t, but I can tell you I've given serious thought to setting up a new M700 or a M70 that way. That was before I saw the difference in the money and got my Savage M11GL in .243Win... that was half what the Remington cost in a configuration that included sights to begin with.

Back in the 70's I had a 722 in .300 Savage set up with the Lyman 57 and a Williams front sight. A good combo, especialy in the drizzel........Essex

I knew from your OP that you already had that gun. I was referring to the way the market is now. Your's probably having been priced less than the new Savage of today is because the price of guns has gone crazy over the last 25+ years. And I agree about that aperture-sighted crankbolt in '06 being handy.

I have no pictures but a couple of thoughts on the subject.
I have a weird 03 Springfield that bubba had a go with. It had a sight waaayyy up on the barrel and the sight was without much useable adjustment. I had my smith mount a lyman micrometer peep and installed a Timey trigger myself. This gun is a true joy to carry around and shoot .
One of your problemns is if you get a gun with no sights you are still going to need the front sight to go with the peep. If you have a gun that has a front sight it has to match the mounting height of wherever the peep gets mounted . Brownells has lots of the front sights and front sight parts to get you squared away.
Another issue that can be a deal breaker is the shape of the stock. A stock with a high comb designed for scope use will be horrible as you just will not be able to line op the two sights and your eye . To some extant if you are handy with wood some stocks can be reshaped .
