I have a sporterized Remington 1917 30-06 rifle. The rear sights were replaced with a Williams peep sight. The problem I have is that with the requisite recoil pad (my shoulder is not THAT strong), the sight is too far away from my eye and I can only use it outside in very bright light. I'd like to get a replacement aperture to use when their is less light.
I don't know much about the rifle, but I imagine that it was sporterized in the 1950s when this was commonly done to older milsurps. Has Williams changed their threads over the years, or should any Williams aperture fit?
And, lastly, does anyone know a good place to get more apertures?
