I recently pulled off a smaller 2x7 scope to put on a 3x9 and the size difference made me have to remove the rear ramp sight. First, is there another option besides putting just the screws back in the holes in the barrel or does someone make a blank (like you see for dove-tail sights)?

Second, when tighting the allen screws on the scope rings how tight do you tighten them? There are two screws per ring so I went in a criss-cross pattern and tightened (light to medium force) until all screws were snug.

Take the rear sight ramp and all completely off and replace them with plugs ( your gun shop should have some 6x48 plugs that will screw down flush with the barrel

For the scope sounds like you did the scope rings right just try to keep even pressure on all screws. ( if you have a fat wrench set them to spec) if you over tighten you will either strip the rings ( best case scenario) or crush your scope ( worst case scenario):D

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I was definitely careful to tighten evenly and not too tight. I actually went around the pattern 3 times slowly until all were tight.
