Hey everyone, new here. I'm looking at getting a new rifle that I can use as an all around hunting rifle (deer, pig, elk, moose, etc) and also take out to the range on the weekends. I'd like to have something that can shoot 500-1000 yards. Anyway, after figuring out my ballpark bugdet and doing some research, I've narrowed it down to a Remington 700 in a 7mm mag. My first question is about all the different models of the 700. I'm looking at the 700p and the 700sps and the only difference I've been able to find is that the
700p has a higher quality stock on it and costs $400-500 more. Is this correct that they are the same gun just with a different stock? And if so, could one buy the 700sps and then put a 700p stock on it?
Next question is about optics. I haven't researched it much, but can anyone recommend a scope for this setup in the $500-1000 price range? What's a good brand? What would be a good magnification range? Thanks all. Look forward to all the great advice.
