As much as I hate to let a gun go it is time that I sell this. I put this together back around 1990. It is a stock Remington 700V in .308 It still has the stock trigger. I've added the Leupold 3.5x10 Tactical Scope (1990ish) and the HS Precision Stock a short time later. This is a very clean rifle. What would be a good starting price or have you seen anything similiar sell recently? Thanks in advance! Paul

Not trying to be an SOB (although some may challenge that), but if you do just a little research on this forum and others, not to mention the auction sites, you would come up with the answer. Take the time to read the sticky and you'll see where every put up on this board needs to have a price. Your rifle is worth what you ask for it -- OR -- what you will take for it.

Posting a "what is my gun worth" thread is a silly game and tatamount to an auction. This is not an auction site.

That said, I'll give you $100.00 for your rifle. You pay shipping.

Thanks!

Thanks gumrunner....if you can find this rifle set-up on another auction site please forward me the link. Good luck, you won't be able to.

Found it.

Hum, found about oh 100 or so of them on a certain gun type auction site, but maybe they are just test auctions or something becuase they cant be found.

Y'know, it is a nice rifle and I really wasn't trying to flame the new guy. But having done the same thing a couple of yrs ago -- and having smoke coming out of my pants from the flaming (REAL flaming, not the nicey-nice patty-cake sweet-talk we've been giving him) -- I learned that the guys were right.

If you want to auction, AUCTION -- the market will decide what your gun is worth. Free-market, all-American, git down 'n dirty supply & demand.

If a guy wants to learn what his gun is worth, he can get off his butt and do a little research. The chances are that he'll get a better price for his toy, anyway!

There's my advice. That's my opinion. It was free. And you got your money's worth.

...Oh, and you're welcome for yet another FREE BUMP!

Welcome to THR Paul ;)

I agree with Rich, $7-800 is about right.

Don't let the ribbing get you down, this place is really a great forum.

Using the search function might help you make a better decision based on the specifics of your rig. Lot's of 700's have passed thru here over the ages.

In any event, it's a nice looking setup, I'm sure you won't have any trouble moving it.

The threadstarter's rifle is unique, in that he added the H-S Precision stock to an older V model action. It's not EXACLY like a VS or a "P" model.

You may do better to put the rifle back in the original stock (if you have it), and then sell the scope, HS stock, and rifle seperately.

It will make it much easier to put a value on and I think will move faster since you won't have to find that person out there who wanted to same rifle that you built.

Just my 2 cents.

Good luck with it!
