I need help deciding on an RRA Std. A4 or an SPS Tactical in .308.

My purpose for these rifles will be target and hunting, and I'm not selling them later.

Reasons:

RRA Std. A4--To learn how to shoot better with iron sights (I will buy a detachable carry handle), and because I'm worried they'll get banned.

SPS Tactical in .308--To have a more handier rifle than my SPS-V also in .308, this rifle will have a Super Sniper 10x42mm scope on a (possibly) Remington MARS mount (because I think they look better/cooler than regular mounts with medium height rings), and I will posibly put a McMillian, H.S. Precision, or Bell and Carlson tactical stock to it if I don't like the Houge stock.

Both rifle will where some kind of paint on them, just incase you wanted to
know.

Estimated cost

RRA Std. A4-- $1100 with their carry handle

SPS Tactical-- $600 (base) + Remington MARS ($450-$500), Harris Bipod ($120), Super Sniper scope ($450), scope rings ($50-$120)= about $1700 without another stock.

So the RRA Std. A4 is cheaper (good for me) but I've always wanted the SPS tactical since I bought my SPS-V (HS stock on the way), and the only baisic reason I want an RRA STD. A4 is for the iron sights.

Is there a way I can JUST order the SPS-T barreled action from Remington?

Or would it be more profitable to just learn how to shoot better with a .22 like a Savage MkII, and just make the 100 yard targets itty-bity so it's like aiming at 600 yards?

Please help me out:)

Just have your barrel lopped off by a good smith on the SPS..

Or

Buy each rifle.. you can never have too many.. thats what I did

Out to 600 yards will that barrel cut off play a big factor? I don't care if I lose a bit of velosity and gaining mobility.

Oh, I get both in due time but I just don't know such one right now, but is the .22 a good idea?

Thanks

I think I should get a Savage MkII to learn and an SPS-V for another hunting rifle to customize.

I'll most likely get a laminant stock for the MkII, because I'm sure the base stock ain't the greatest.

I think since you already have a sps-v you should just work with that and get it how you like, rather than buying a different gun. Then just get the RRA A4.

As said before, just cut the barrel down to 20" on your sps-v and put the items you mentioned on that (minus the 500 dollar mars base, thats ridiculous....just put that money towards a better scope.)

The 20" will be fine at 600 yards...if your trying to get to 1k then the 26" would probably be better...but at 600 yards a lot of people shoot the 20" with good results.

That way you have the best of both worlds.

You can't beat a .22 for learning how to shoot better. I'd go straight for a CZ 452 and get one of those with the tangent iron sights. Beautiful little rifles. Or a 10/22 with Techsights for AR style sights. Or get your AR and get a drop in conversion kit for .22 for cheap practice (albeit it won't be the most accurate, but good enough for practice)

buy the 22 and the RRA, is my opinion, should be less then your bolt gun plans, plus you have two guns :D

I owned an RRA standard A4, it was an awesome gun

I'll see how my SPS-V shoots with a 20" barrel and go from there, the MKII I'll be getting is the MkII FVT, and mabey put a laminate stock on it.

And I do need another scope since my BSA is good for only good days, it's not the greatest for rain, but for $100 it's ok.

The MkII is very inticing since it's under $500. I think it would be best to learn how to shoot with irons first then upgrade to the RRA.

I dunno, I've just always wanted a "tactical rifle", and the SPS-T fits the bill.

Can you order barreled actions from Remington?

Thanks

"Super Sniper" was orignaly marketed by Tasco, but then was later sold to SWFA, and became a good scope, it's now under the name "SS", not "Super Sniper".

WOW:what:the CZ-452 FS is beautiful, and I don't even like wood:what:

Just it's more aftermarket for the Savage MkII

Out of the MkII and the CZ-452 FS which one is more accurate, has a better trigger, better sights, and overall better buy?

I wish CZ had em' in synthetic and iron sights, or at least make peep sighted ones.

Personally, the MKII. The triggers are both REALLY nice, but i like the accutriggers, and they are both very accurate. So close that you can't compare them there IMO. And the savage is a bit cheaper, soo.....

I'll buy a MkII, when I get a new .22, why, because it's American, not European, the only reason I like the CZ is for the wood, besides the MkII has a peep sight:)

That and you can get one of these stocks:

I REALLY want one, but i would only have the excuse to pay that much it i was gonna use it for compitition, and my MKII is not set up for being legal in any class...:(
