I like Remington 722,s and have five, this .300 savage was number five and came on a deal(trade with a friend) with a realy bubbed stock that his uncle had done and he didn,t think much of it, but I saw a diamond in the so called rough and and offered a trade that he accepted. first thing I did was rid it of that chewed up stock and went on the hunt for stock, I found one that had about 3/4" chopped of the butt and needed cleaned up. I had a original butt plate in a junk box and ground it to fit and cleaning it up. as the bore in in ex condition and the rest of the metal is in very good condition also, I mounted a older clear 4x frontier redfield on it. i put on my hunting coat and found that the 3/4" shortened stock was no problem in seeing thru the scope when bringing up to my shoulder. if I find another full factory I will replace the one in have on it now. ps, I have a original rear sight, I will put on it.
