i have a remington 740, wanted to replace the recoil spring but brownells only had them for the 742 and 7400. i ordered the one for the 742 and it does not work in my rifle. the diameter of the spring metal thickness is slightly larger than the original spring causing the recoil stroke to shorten and stop before the bolt goes all the way back...
what gives? are they supposed to be different? if so, where can i get a 740 spring?
thanks for any help
