Ive got a 710 in that caliber that im looking to replace after less than a year, the action isnt very smooth, it is an accurate gun but i would say to save your money and get a nicer gun.
There are a few brands of rifles that would be of better quality for the same price, look at Stevens or savages, the actions are much better on those, plus there would be the availability of after market parts which the 710 and 770 dont have.

that is way too much money. look for a deal closer to 350 bucks, with a scope.that is total with tax. it is a hunting rifle, it is ugly, it has a comfy recoil pad,it is actualy a comfy rifle, it will be accurate , if you are plinking, for the first 3 to 5 shots. After that , heat is your big enemy. I shot a dudes in 7 mag, zeroing it in for him, and it shot a dime size group at 100. But it was pretty much done for the day. it is a beater rifle, but I do not know if it can take heavy pounding or dropping. I would try and find one in nickel wash/stainless. the others look as if it will rust if you look at them too hard.

For that price, you can get a Remington 700 which is much, much better. For $100 less, you can get a Savage 110 with accutrigger which is also much much better.
