Hello I have just bought a new Remington express shotgun in 20 ga. I had a Wingmaster 30 years ago and I really liked it. That was my reason for buying this 870. I got it home and discovered that I had a lot of trouble getting my head low enough to sight down the barrel without a "ramp" showing, leading to the front bead. The gun has a vent rib. My question is does anyone have experience altering the "drop" of the stock on this synthetic stock? I have had the butt pad off, found the bolt and removed the stock. I think I could re-fit the stock - reciever connection, but is there a better way? Thanks Bob

Get some aftermarket tall sights. I'd go with a ghost ring setup because the rear sight base is usually fairly high. I agree that many shotguns could benefit from a bit more drop on the stock, even some 12 gauges.
My wife's 870 youth model in 20GA had the same problem as yours. I put a ghost ring sight setup on it and it works much better.
