Does the Remington HD have a metal or plastic trigger guard?

My Remington 870 (order #5077) has plastic. Not sure if that is what you refer to as the HD model, never seen it so documented. It's the 18.5" smooth bore cylinder choke barrel with 2 shot mag extension.

Mine is plastic and doesn't bother me. Heck, one of my pistols has a plastic frame.

are they interchangable with regular 870 trigger frames?i.e. could one get an trigger assmbly off an old 870 police gun and swap?

Yes, the trigger groups are the same.

My 870 Express Magnum HD with the factory +2 extension has a plastic trigger guard. I bought it new a month ago.
