REMINGTON 870 receiver WITH NO SERIAL NUMBER

Remingtons 870's have been made since 1951 and serial numbers were not required on guns until 1968. Has anyone out there run across a Remington 870 with no serial number on the receiver ? If there was no serial number on the frame was it on the trigger guard or barrel?

Remington always serial numbered the 870.
With the possible exception of some of the cheaper .22 rifles, I think Remington serial numbered just about everything.

Since the receiver IS the gun, serial numbers weren't stamped on barrels or trigger guards.

If you have a Remington 870 with no number, I'd be looking VERY closely for signs of it being removed.
