Good Afternoon Gentlemen,
I need some advice......
....have recently shot a remington 11-87 with magazine extention. I fired 2 3/4" shells loaded with 32 grams of #7 1/2 birdshot. Compared with similar shells loaded with 24grams of identical sized birdshot, the former kicked HARD.
Am seriously thinking of buying a remington 870 marine magnum as a utility shotgun but seeing is that pump actions kick harder than semi autos, I am becoming apprehensive.
Therefore, for firing 2 3/4" shells with 1 1/8oz loads, I have 3 questions:
1) Can the marine magnum be fitted with a magazine extention? It already has a 6+1 capacity but I'm told that additional shells will weigh down the gun and reduce felt recoil.
2) The website says that it comes with an R3 recoil pad. How effective is this for recoil dampening?
3) The gunshop's padded shotgunning vest costs too much $$$$, how effective is a thick towel draped over a shoulder as a makshift recoil absorber?
