Alrighty... I picked up a Rem 887 yesterday from Sportsman's Warehouse. The price was right, and frankly I like the concept of a having the exterior protected from the elements. It is kind of ugly but so is the camo I wear to go hunting... I have a nice looking shotgun... now I want one I can kick around a bit and take into weather that would make me think twice about having the wingmaster.

First impression about getting it home was that it was solidly built, action wasn't as smooth as my 870 Wingmaster but hey, I know the 870 is wellllll broken in.

As I was cleaning it everything looked solid. Not too dirty, no internal rusting that I've heard is happening. So I cleaned everything off, oiled her up and put her away.

I had the day off today so off I went to go shoot some clays. Well, I couldn't be happier. Action is smoothing out nicely, recoil pad absorbs quite a bit of the punch.

I've heard about heat being retained by the plastic coating and this somehow screws with sighting down the barrel. I experienced no such phenomena, and I was intentionally shooting fast and getting this thing hot.

I've heard about misfires, and jams.... again, not a single instance of this.

The highlights: I really dig the mid barrel brass bead, and the fiber optic front tip. It makes acquiring the clay easier. I shot over 300 shells today and did not have a FTF, FTE, or a jam of any kind.

I know the initial reviews were rough on this shotgun, but I think Remington has it figured out now.
