Doesn't seem overly likely -- even the new caseless/cased telescoping ammo is in 5.56mm at present, though some of the power points and such floating around on line look like they're playing with a super-long bullet that's got to be up around the 90 grain realm.
 
Cruising ARFCOM, the Remington ACR made no mention of switching to 7.62x39 or 5.45x39--only "changing barrel and bolt to 6.8 or 6.5".

I hope they didn't drop the ability to swap to either AK round; if they did, they just made an extremely promising firearms platform into just another SCAR-wannabe/ripoff.
 
Cool indeed, I've been watching the development of that thing for the last 3 years. And if it comes in under $1500 I would buy one.
 
The wait on this is just getting to be surreal.

i do believe that im the only person i know of that has actually owned one and believe that colt is way overrated.

I wouldn't hold my breath for any rifle, or pistol. The firearms industry has more vaporware than the software industry, about which the term was coined.

I want to like the Masada/ACR. When one comes out I'm willing to see if it is any good. But I'm not willing to believe that it is the second coming of the M1 Garand (or whatever firearm you consider to be a game-changer) until I see how it works in issue form, not on some YouTube video put out by the company or The Whispering Bald Man from Futureweapons. And I'm certainly not saving up money or not buying other stuff in lieu of it until units start to ship.

I've been waiting for a good .308 battle rifle since I bought my AR-10 when they first came out. That was a disappointment. I want a piston-powered gun with a free-floated barrel, in-line stock, and a full-length picatinny rail with a 10-pack of 20-round magazines. CURRENTLY, I'm running a L1A1 in that configuration but I'd like to shave about 3 pounds from that package and cut my groups in half.

That MagPul Mossoud (sp) is what I'm waiting for. It'll be a few years, I'm sure, but I'm patient... Obama administration willing.
 
Concur. The Massoud, like the Masada, looks brilliant - on paper. I'm also running a FAL clone, and I can't quite like the AR-10.

Use the search, I've been saying Colt has been living off the name for a long time now.

Doesn't seem to be the best environment these days to be starting civilian firearms projects with long lead times until profitability.
