Trying to find info on a shot gun with the following info stamped on the barrel.
Remington Arms - Union Metallic Cartridge Co, Browning Pat Oct 9, 1900, 1902 and 1903 - Remington works Ilion NY. There is no gauge stamp but looks like a 12ga. Has variable choke and 'muzzle brake' (?) very similar to what I have seen on old Browning semi-autos. Serial # 131313. Can anyone help me out with possible mfr date(s) and gauge? Had no shells available to check chamber size and can't remember the measurements of the various gauge barrels. Thanks.

It's a rem 11. One of the earlier ones with it being a rem-UMC. Lots of those had the barrels cut and the adjustable choke installed but I don't think that was ever a factory option.

Forgot to mention it is an autoloader. The info was sent to me by a friend and am working with him on pictures. He just sent more info and states there is an RR inside a circle on one side of the barrel and MOD on the other side right at the very base of the barrel. As soon as he sends some pics I will try to get them posted. Pat dates mentioned are 1900, 1902, 1903 and serial number 131313.

There are serial number records on the net somewhere that I used to get mine dated to 1928. The location of the safety is also an indicator of age as the early ones had a safety in the trigger guard. The later ones moved outside.

The safety is inside the trigger guard. I will see if I can talk him into breaking down the gun to look for other identification marks and also to get some good pictures.

As already stated.

It is an early Model 11 Remington.

That has had the fixed 28" Modified choke barrel cut off, and a Cutts Compensator installed.

It has no collector value now after the barrel was cut off, and is worth $250 -$300 tops as as shooter now.

Nothing much to get excited about other then that.
