Howdy all,
I recently bought a Rossi single shot 12 ga (with the .22lr matched barrel). I took it out last weekend to the range and I was very happy with it. It fired every .22lr (about 200rds) and a whole box of Remington Game Shot (25 rds) with no problems. However, when I tried a box of Remington Buckshot Express (2.75", 00BK, 9 Pellets). Of the 10 rounds I tried, one failed to fire at all (despite repeated hits) and 3 only fired on the 2nd hit. The one that failed to fire had a definite hit from the firing pin that appeared as deep/hard as on the fired shells.
Now as you can imagine, I was a little disturbed at the 40% initial failure rate with this ammo (especially in what I see as a load, 00BK, specifically for defense or hunting, where reliability is of prime importance).
Does Remington Buckshot have a reputation for hard primers or less than reliable firing? I'll be testing some Centurion shells this next weekend and I'm hoping they'll have 100% success and thus the issue is not with my shotgun but rather with the Remington ammo. Anyone have a similar experience or have some advice for me (this is my first shotgun btw but I have a number of other firearms).
