Greetings all. First time poster on this board but a vet of several others.

Thanks for the good Model 11 info posted above. I recently received the Model 11 (12 guage) that my wife's grandfather had purchased in the 40s and put "thousands" of rounds through. It hadn't been fired in at least 20 years so I cleaned and inspected it as well as I could. I test fired it at the range and it didn't blow up in my face which I figured was a good first step. Yesterday I took it on a quail hunt and knocked down about 15 birds. It performed beautifully and I'm an instant fan of the gun.

I have noticed a small crack in the bottom of the stock and am considering replacing it so as not to have it actually break on me. Of course I'd retain the original stock, but does anyone have any suggestions on locating a replacement? Considerng the age and that they stopped production over 50 years ago I wouln't think the prospects of finding an original replacement would be very good, but I'm no expert. Any input appreciated.

Great board you have here!

Jeff

My Dad has an old model 11 that he bought back in the late 1950's. Out of curiosity, I called Remington and talked to the company historian. They ran the serial number and found that Dads 11 was made in 1910, 3 years short of a century ago! It still works fine though it is fed only field loads only.

Much thanks Dave. I also found an outfit at www.gun-parts.com that has an entire menu of parts available for it. But I'll go with a moderator's suggestion over an internet search

You're very welcome. Gun Parts Corp and First will have factory parts, Wenig makes stocks.

i greased 4 pheasants in the last 2 weekends with my A5 light 12 my grandpa gave me for xmas last year. no 6, 2 3/4 game loads. late 60s vintage. nice blue, belgian 28 in ribbed barrel imp cyl. works just as good as my 11-87 or 870 or weatherby OU. just prettier and means more to me...

I also just picked up a 1929 vintage A5 with not much blue left and a non ribbed barrel for CHEAP. gonna chop it and make a clyde barrow commemerotive.. couldnt find a Rem 11 around here for cheap
