While searching for a Colt 1903 or a 1908, I came across a Remington Model 51 that has intrigued me but I am finding only limited information. It appears to be very similar to the Colt, and was produced in about the same time period, but there is a considerable difference in pricing. Can anyone give me some good information in this old gun? Thank you

Buy it. You won't regret it. I have one, and I positively love it. It is the most comfortable to shoot .380 I've ever fired, mostly as a result of its grip, which John D. Pedersen put a lot of time and effort into designing the contours of. It's also amazing how flat the gun is. If you want to carry it, and as long as it's reliable, it remains a practical gun for carry, owing to its flat contour, natural pointing qualities, and a grip that allows all three fingers to get a hold on the gun. The only problem with it for carry are its nearly non-existent sights (and the anemic cartridge).

The method of operation is highly unusual, but it's really cool, and it's nice to have one just to have something so different in one's collection.
