Got a call from #2 son today - a .380 Remington 51 came into the store in mint condition (not the one above) BUT without the original magazine. Now don't laugh, although not a Colt, it WAS designed by John Pedersen - Pedersen had worked with Browning and later Pedersen worked for the US Army and provided competition to John Garand's M1. Gen. Geo. Patton had a 51 and is said to have favored it - favored it over what ... is unknown..

Now that I may have stifled the laughter, we currently don't have a Rem. 51 in our eclectic collection and would like to find an original magazine for it. Anyone have any idea who might have one???

Thanks, in (hopeful) advance!:)

I own one of these fine pistols although not mint or in the condition of the one in the pic. Sarco (www.sarcoinc.com) has shown them in their Shotgun News ad for some time for about $28-$30 IIRC. I believe they are original but not 100% sure.

Also there is a Remington Arms Collectors Group online that gave me the mfg. date of mine as 1919.

Some interesting info about them: A total of 64750 were produced from 1918
to 1927. The 51s were made in .32 and .380 with the ratio of 5 to 1 made, that is 380s to 32s. The "PA" before the s/n stands for Pedersen's Automatic in honor of the gun's designer, John D. Pedersen. The pistol was produced for the commercial market only, no contracts to police or government are known.
The anchor on the trigger guard is a Quality Control inspector's mark and is not indicative of any naval significance.

Good Luck!
