Hi there. I just picked up a Rem model 722 in 257 Roberts. It is in great shape no rust, no pitting and i dont think i own a rifle with a crisper trigger. The only ammo I could find is 117gr Hornady+p. I'd like to eventually reload but wanted to see how she shoots this weekend. Do you guys think this action will be safe with this +p stuff? All I can find is guys saying it should be fine but wanted some extra reassuring before I shoot it. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance

The action will handle the pressures, my 722 .257 Roberts shrugged off the “light magnum” +P Hornady load with no issues.

But, the longer 117 gr BTSP bullet Hornady loaded wasn’t very accurate in my particular gun. I think the twist is borderline, if not too slow for the longer bullets. (Every gun is its own animal, I hope you have better luck with the Hornady load than I did.)

Stay safe.
