I must be out of touch because I didn't know Remington was now only manufacturing shotgun primers. I was looking on their site and realized this. Is it true and how long?

That's a shame because I kinda like their small rifle benchrest primers (# 7 1/2) for 5.56x45mm ammo when I can't find CCI #41 primers. I guess I can use my third choice, the CCI-450 primers but still, the Rem 7 1/2 primers are really good for that application IMO.

I just saw Remington #5 1/2 on Midway yesterday morning, so I doubt they have stopped making other than shotgun primers. As to why Remington only has shotshell primers listed on their website....who knows?

I hope it's not true. I like the Rem #1-1/2 for .32S&W/Long and .38S&W light loads. Also really a nice primer for plinking loads in .38Spl revolvers with light springs.

I would not count out remmington products based on advertising. They were just brought back online so vista will focus on profits where ever that is. Once stocks are full of loaded ammunition, they will make primers for sale.
I agree.

If I was Vista Outdoor, parent company to CCI/Federal and now Remington Ammunition (Not Remington Firearm), I would focus more on higher demand primers and components.

My guess is that, as indicated by CEO of Vista Outdoor, production of primers are ramped up to maximum production level that will continue until supply catches up to historic demand of biblical proportions - https://finance.yahoo.com/video/vista-outdoor-ceo-raising-prices-144251388.html

"CHRIS METZ: ... We believe that consumption is off the charts. And what's happened here is, boy, the amount of users that have come into the industry over the past couple of years is up 30%."

Once something goes south, a place like Midway will usually switch status to "discontinued". They still show Remington primers as "temporarily unavailable". Almost all primers these outfits have sold have been CCI, with occasional Federal. Can't recall seeing any Remington or Winchester primers from Midway. My guess is they still exist, but are going into factory ammo.

This makes no sense. Why would you leave your ammo production line idle, incurring all the fixed costs, to chase a few pennies in the components market?

If they have surplus production, I imagine they're selling it to other ammunition reloading companies.

lol.
gotta move fast!

Wow! Yep...you're right! When I checked right before my post I was able to put 1k into my cart...I don't need them so I removed them and posted.
Yeah, I do that too hunting for supply to help folks out but its bitten me hard - in the Inbox! Now I get these emails from Natchez, SG, Precision, the two Mid's, everybody, "Were you just looking?" "We still have what you were shopping for..." (a blatant lie!) "Come back put that item in your cart!" AAARRRGH!!!:cuss:

No good deed goes unpunished. :(

I have over 12K unread messages in my email.:(

Primers are available, more so now than last year, or even earlier this year. I've been finding primers locally in the last several months as well as online.

They will be available here and there, just have to watch and be patient.

Are you saying that CCI/Speer/Blazer/Lawman, Federal/American Eagle and Remington/UMC ammunition are all owned by the same corporation? Oh dear, that's crazy. Wow.
