I have NEVER seen a US-made Springer 1911, except for the TGO guns. Are you sure a dealer wasn't fibbing to make a sale?

I guess after you read my frame you're going to have to count this as a first. To answer the OP, I'd take a WWII Colt any day of the week.

Pretty sure they all have the IL address. It does not say made in the USA.

I just picked up an R1 a few days ago and am very happy with it. One previous owner, nothing wrong with it so far (now finding enough .45 is another matter at the moment). Got it for a steal, $575, with the case and two mags.

Might have to get a barrel bushing wrench (it's my first 1911, so I'm a bit unprepared) but the takedown is still infinitely easier than any of the Kimbers my friends own. All in all I'm very happy with my purchase.

Why are the top rounds in the mags inserted backwards?

I think he does it as an homage to the famous HK advertising goof that had the rounds loaded backwards into a magazine.

beautiful 1911.
Thank-you Stinger.....it shoots very nice also.

No they do not - But that is what it means. Those made in Brazil have "Made in Brazil - IMBEL" as well as different serial numbers.

Yes he does.

I have a Auto Ordnance 1911, and my Dad has a Remington R1. Both of these are nice well made guns. The AO tolerences are looser then the R1 but it is acurate, and runs flawlessly. I was actually in the market for a R1 until my LGS showed me the AO. One look at it, I had to have it. I prefer the as issued in WWII look and feal it has. Nothing wrong with either gun in my opinion.

IMO both ordanance's are suboptimal. Budget friendly but just no where near the quality you are going to get out of the oldest gun manufacturer in the US. I bought the R1 today. I didn't even take it home and clean it. From the store to the range with a box of 50 230gr RNHB berrys I had made last week. I chewed right through them. First 5 rounds went right through the bull at 25 yards. By the last round there was a big hole in tge center of the target. Very accurate right outta the box. Fit and finish are subpar and it will need a trigger job but otherwise it's awesome. I have a Smith E Series that I paid significantly more for but I wanted something I can tinker with. The R1 fit the bill and I must say I am very pleased with the purchase. I highly recommend the R1 over any Rock or Ordanance. Yes you could send a Rock to Las Vegas for repairs. Our you could buy American

Right now you can't get either gun the Remington R-1 or the RIA .45 ACP 1911. All guns have been bought and sold along with ammo because of this panic buying.

I took my new R1 back yesterday since I already had one and traded it in on a Sig. He had 3 or 4 Sigs and same with the R1's.

Yea, right at 1000. Probably over paid but oh well. It'll probably sit with the rest of my handguns. I dont know why I dont shoot them more often.:banghead:

Stinger 327 I am at a slight advantage. I'm active duty military and our post exchange sells firearms. Not to mention I don't have to pay sales tax. The stuff they don't have is what handguns eat. No bullets. However most of the gun shops up here in Washington have their gun displays fairly well stocked.

That's a great advantage.
