Well the Remington auto's do tend to be kinda unreliable with shorter barrels from what i read. not enough time between the projectile passing the gas ports and leaving the muzzle to build enough pressure to cycle the action. Should be fine with heavier buckshot and slug rounds. Might have problems with target loads.
You can open up the gas ports to improve reliability with target loads. But then the heavier rounds might overgas the system and cause accelerated wear on the gun.
I'm sure they make clip on rifle sights for vent ribs. So you can buy a ribbed 1100 barrel, cut it, clip on some rifle sights, and have it threaded for chokes.
The cutting and threading would likely be around $100 at your typical smith plus the cost of the barrel. Though you can always cut it yourself to save a few bucks. not that hard.
