Question is: Have you tried cast bullets in your Remington model RP45? Results?

After searching and watching/reading reviews, i don't see anyone using cast bullets.

I cast my own bullets and want to know before buying a RP45.

Searched castboolits & also Googled it , didn't find anyone loading cast bullets. CastBullets_20090207_005.JPG.jpg

Thank you.

LSWC is all that I shoot in my 1911, so I don't think it would be any problem. I get my bullets from MBC with the 12 brn. Mine has a Kart barrel and never had a leading problem.

No experience here. But......, with the RP45 being "duty" size, I would think they could be be generous with the chamber.
Someone has to take the first nibble. :)

I will add, I have a Kimber that has a moderately tight chamber. I had to learn the 200 gr. SWC.

It could be a problem. The Springfield XD45 was notorious for not feeding SWC bullets. I know neither of mine would.

As for 45 ACP bullets; If I were just starting to cast for 45ACP, I would choose the Lyman 225 RN (and I did). I had heard some pistols don't reliably feed the 200 gr SWC so my 1911 and Ruger P90 got the RN. After a while I picked up a mold for a 200 gr SWC, a mod 68 clone. It worked quite well in my RIA 1911 but didn't feed reliable in the P90, mebbe 1 out of 7 would jam. I believe if I had one gun to cast for I would purchase bullets of a style I wanted to try before I bought a mold I had no use for...

The XD45 I had, had practically no throat in the chamber. When 200gr SWC were seated with the shoulder of the SWC flush with the case mouth, it fed like tap-water, and with a medium load of Acc#5, was a tack-driver.
Try seating the bullets a bit deeper if they don’t feed.

Try asking this question over at castboolits.com. There is a lot more experience with things lead and cast over there. Good folks like here, too.

My XD 45 comes back and folds the rim of the case over if I load SWC bullets in it. However to be fair it's a very early model.
