Tropical,
The 597 is make in Mayfield KY. and the guys here in Ilion don't think much of it.
We do make some parts for the 597 here at the Ilion plant.
I own one and haven't had too many problems with it other than the crappy plastic mags (I bought 6 for like $2.95 ea.) I've since upgraded to the metal mags that are magnesium.
StinkyShoe,
I for one don't think they have anyone bright enough to "trace my IP" and if they do...they'll get a surprize because it's on someone elses name!
Also some stuff might "disappear" from earlier posts to keep me more anon....
If your 870 had "dimples " in the mag tube then it's later production.
Intune ,
Thank you for the kind words, I do admit the workers have been feeling that all the shortcuts the company has taken since CD&R came in has hurt quality, it seems they want to coast on Remington's reputation in the marketplace. Don't get me wrong, there are some really fine examples of our work on the market.
But there have been more customer returns for repair since they've taken over.:banghead:
The 710 is an ABORTION! We had PALLETS of them come to us for repair (when they first came out) and we don't even make them here!
The others have good days and bad, I would still take the M700 over anyone elses bolt action out there other than high end guns like Weatherby or Browning.
I am impressed with Benelli's new semi auto rifle on the market, they copied the general slines of the 7400 and MODERNIZED them, although I prefer steel over aluminum for a receiver.
