Who has tips on removing the faux suppressors attached to Beretta 71 imports?

How do they shoot afterwards?

What is the quality of the guns from Century Arms, etc.?

Google...basically grind down to find the set screw, remove, heat if necessary and twist off.

Not hard to do, and you will find numerous how-to links on the net.
As long as you don't damage the muzzle crown, the pistol will shoot as sweet after the silencer-ectomy as it did before. Great pistols, you will love it, and the price is really good.

It's easy... file the area where you see the weld material to expose the end of the setscrew, use a propane torch to soften whatever goop they used on the threads, and unthread the fake can. The hard part is holding the barrel so you can apply enough torque to get the fake can started off the threads. It's a ten minute job.

They shoot great. And they make a great host for a real suppressor.

Quality is typical Beretta, which is excellent, and condition seems to range from pretty darned nice to very nice indeed.

I actually chickened out on one of these while on hold with the distributor.
Maybe I will rethink. Tomorrow's my birthday after all.

Hangup No 1 was magazine availability. Are the cheap but not inexpensive replacements reliable? One guy said his would shoot from a Bersa .22 magazine. Hmm.
Hangup No 2 was sights. They look kind of dinky and my other current project is getting fibre optics on two more guns.

Anything to encourage or discourage me on calling again?

Mags are scarce, and originals can be pretty expensive. Bersa mags will run fine in some Beretta, not at all in others, and run the whole spectrum in-between.
I have no problem with the sights, that's up to each individual shooter.
