I am seeking advice to see how to possibly remove the recoil pad from a 700 5R Reminton. It is the thin factory install and I cannot see any visable access to the screws. Is it just glued on? Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated. I was wanting to possibly fill the void space in the stock with foam to alliviate the hollow sound.
Thanks
J

If it's the factory stock that the 5R comes with (HS Precision green w/ black webbing and palm swell,) there shouldn't be a "void" in it. Yes, the recoil pad is glued on and you can carefully remove it by breaking the glue free, but it's easy to chip the finish on the stock at the pad if you don't tape the stock at that juncture & score the glue between stock & pad.

Quickdraw,
Thanks for the insight. Your correct on the type and finish of the stock. I probably will not do any modifications at this time. Its a new gun and I am sure I will get familiar with the feel. Most of my long guns have wood stocks.
