Is there a good way to remove the thumb studs from this:

I'm thinking of grinding them off but wasn't sure if any of the knife experts knew of a better way.

It appears that the studs also function as a blade stop. Removing them may have unintended consequences. They are likely to be threaded and to have some kind of loc-tite type compound on them.
I'd go slow on this and not do anything destructive in the process of getting them off. Once they are off, if you find that they do function as blade stops, you are going to need to put them back and you'll be rather up the creek if you wrecked them.

I wouldn't remove them for the reason Joe gave. If they drive you crazy I'd trade it or sell it and get a knife that has something different.

Hehe yeah just grind off the top part.. they come rough enough to tear through several of my jeans while getting use to the flipper deployment.

For those that were curious, I did unscrew them and they do act as a blade stop. 3 minutes with a dremel smoothed up the rough faces and I reinstalled them. I can now dig change out of my pocket without the thumb stud scraping the back of my hand.

It certainly isn't one of my favorite knives, but I do like the little "flipper" opener and it will make a fine beater.
