Rental Range Near Buford, GA?

Hi All!

I've been lurking here for a while, but finally registered. I'm going down to Buford, GA at the beginning of October, and hoping to go shooting with a friend of mine. Neither of us own (yet), so we're looking for a rental range.

We've been to Bull's Eye in Lawrenceville, and enjoyed it quite a bit. We've shot of bunch of pistols, and a bunch of rifles in pistol calibers. This time around, we'd really like to shoot rifles. Preferably outdoors, and preferably scoped rifles, and preferably at a reasonable distance, say 100 yards or more - bolt action would be awesome.

I haven't been able to find anything close on the 'net, so I figured I'd come here, as you seem to know just about everything

I've been to a place called The Firing Lane in Athens (Bogart) GA. It's about an hour away from Buford and indoors, but it's also a class III dealer/renter if that floats your boat. http://www.firinglane.com/ Shooting a full auto AK is a real blast.

It's also next to a large Gunshop http://www.franklinsofathens.com/main.html
They're a bit high, but you can talk 'em down some.

We're probably not going to be buying just yet - we'd really like to be able to try as many firearms as we can - and shooting something bolt action would be a real treat.

Anyone else got any ideas for the FNG?

Those two are good options. If at the Firing Lane, go to Clyde Armory and Franklin's, both in walking distance.

Up Hwy 20 from Buford is Cumming, where you can find Bulls Eye range & rental (not to be confused with the range in Lawrenceville. FWIW I live nearby.

Does anyone know of ranges that have either scoped rifles, bolt action or otherwise?

+1 for Clydes Armory in Athens.

I go to a *lot* of gun stores/ranges in the S.E. and I can't think of any that rent scoped/bolt action rifles.

Thank you! Clyde's looks AWESOME! I didn't see anything about a range there ... seems a shame with such an excellent inventory!

Georgia WMAs

Also, check out some of Georgia's Wildlife Management Areas. A number of them offer outdoor ranges. For example, the Charlie Eliott WMA has a range although it's not close to Buford. A bit closer is the Wilson Shoals WMA Shooting Range in Banks County (near Gainesville).
