I noticed something odd about my Uberti/Cimarron Model P .44 Special tonight. I had cleared it prior to checking the fit of a holster, and as I let the hammer down, something seemed amiss. I cocked the hammer and tried to rotate the cylinder by hand ~ locked up tight. Eased the hammer down and checked the rotation ~ no rotation to the right (clockwise) but more than slight movement to the left (Counter clockwise). Rotation moved the cylinder about half the diameter of the chamber. I removed the cylinder and cocked the hammer. The bolt snapped up like its supposed to do. Bit when I press down on the bolt, there was slight resistance. The locking notch leads cammed the bolt down upon counterclockwise rotation.

So, out to the shop and dug through my spare parts, and did find a Single Action bolt/trigger spring. Incidentally, my Uberti takes the same screwdrivers as Colt.

As it turned out, downtime was less than a half hour from diagnosis to working again.

Did you replace it with a standard flat spring? I have heard that there are some wire type springs that may last longer.

A flat spring is what I had in my parts box, so that is what I used. I did replace the bolt/trigger spring in my Hy Hunter with the wire spring. I'm not sure where I got that flat spring, just happened to look and found it in my parts supply.

This is the replacement spring, doesn't look like from Uberti:
