As I play the aging game with my near 45 year old eyeballs, I have a new 2" Model 60 coming in, but I know I'll do something with the front sight, just not sure what.

I've got a Hi-Viz front sight on my LCR which I like ok, I've played with big dots on some of my smaller Glocks, and I know they make them for the J-Frame as well, but not sure how the small square rear notch will work with these as opposed to the express rear.

Thoughts or other suggestions???

Crimson Trace. The missus and I have them on our J-Frames.

You can see the red spot in daylight as well as the dark. The grip also prevents the trigger guard from bumping your middle finger.

I've shot an LCR with the XS standard dot and it worked pretty good, would be better if the rear notch was more U shaped.

If my 642's front sight was pinned I'd have the standard dot on it, I might even get the sight milled and installed.

You do know you can get the big dot "glue on" for the non pinned sights right? Don't think they have them in standard for size though.

Thanks for all suggestions so far!

XS big dot sights....

+1 for the XS big dot revolver sight. ;)
I'm now "middle age" so I'm soon going to need some help too.
Trijicon HD sights are super too. My LE trade in Glock 21 .45acp has factory green night sights but if it didn't Id get HDs(green/orange).
Note: many engineers & gun company staff say green is the best color to get. I liked the mixed sight picture.

Wayne Novak, www.Novaksights.com has a few good products. His pistol sights are a gun industry standard on many models.

I'm not fond of "fiber optic" brands. They seem easy to break or unreliable on a carry or duty sidearm.
FWIW; I have seen fiber optic systems that were bright & worked great even in daytime conditions.

A lasergrip or red dot laser might help but they do not replace marksmanship. Train train train!....

As you can see from my current carry setup, I am not averse to CT grips either. Fiber optics best in daylight, lasers rulke lowlight, I'm only screwed at twilight ;) (In reality I always go the the fiber optic first in training first and CT's are more for special circumstances.)

I just wanted to keep the 60 to be bit more traditional but still be able to have a little better sights. Sounds like big dots are the front runner.

another vote for crimson trace. I have them on three of my four S&W self defense revolvers. the gun is for SD, right? don't worry about your sights -- you won't use them. practice point shooting.

second choice is the XO front sight also mentioned. but the cost of the sight and the install/re-blue could cost in the neighborhood of the Crimson Trace.

If you mean the XS big dot sights they have a model for both pinned and non pinned front sight j frames that are both around $50 and neither require machining or refinishing, or are you talking about something else?

Sorry my bad, you DO have to mill off part of the front site of no pin J Frame sites, then do the glue thing. So that would be a gunsmith thing most likely.

I recently purchased a new Model 640-3 with a 2 1/8" barrel. This gun came fitted with a pinned black serrated ramp 0.123" in width.

My eyes are old and need all the help they can get! This front sight works as well as any I can imagine with the shallow 0.133" wide rear notch on my gun. After years of conditioning with a tritium front dot, that would be ideal for me, but this front sight is very useable for me.

My 642 has a much narrower front sight blade, and is very difficult for me to use. The extra width seems to be much more important to my eyes than the color.
