Hello again,
I got some good advice in my last post here http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=203836 (wondering whether or not a Savage would be a good choice for a first rifle). Thanks for that guys
Today I happened across one of the suggested Savage package deals, the 12FVXP in .223, and the first thing I noticed was just how...well...cheap and plastic-y the stock felt. I've got such little experience, but I can't believe that stock would be acceptable to folks with more experience.
I've read in a few posts here that many Savage owners have replaced these synthetic stocks with higher-quality ones, so I'm looking for suggestions. If I go with one of their models that has a synthetic stock (I'm thinking 10FP or 12FV), what are some suggestions as far as brands to look into for a more solid-feeling stock? It'd be for target shooting, so I'm not too worried about adding a bit of weight (don't get carried away though ).
Thanks
