Repurposed Amazon Fire 7” Tablet

Was viewing scale dial with a USB webcam to an laptop.
Found this small tablet at a yard sale for $5, and much prefer it’s small footprint and ease of use.

If you really get into reloading pick up one of these, they work just as well as a RCBS 505 for me.

Good job. I've been showing people how to use the camera on hand held devices as magnifiers or "inspection mirrors" for years. There's a gratifying Ah-ha moment most times.

Those tablets make good magnifying glasses for old guy's too.

My Wife has an old one also but I do not see a usb port on it. She says its the charger port?
Can you show a picture of yours from the back and the USB cord connect.? If it messes up you install don't bother. Thanks

Do not need a full size USB port. Camera is on back side of tablet (facing the scale). Screen is on the front of the tablet. Screen can me adjusted with fingers for magnification.
Only port on mine is a mini USB used for charging only.

I haven't tried it, but, if you have an old cell phone you didn't know what to do with.... this might be a good use for it. Someone try it and let us know yeah?

I tried a laptop - too big and cumbersome
I tried my iPhone - just fine, but I wanted a bit larger screen
I am using the 7” tablet - love the size and everything about it. Perfect IMHO

I probably should have not even mentioned my earlier USB webcam to laptop screen which I tried for a bit.
Sorry.
This is truly pretty much the optimal way to go. (Tablet or phone).
The 7” tablet size seems perfect to my old eyes.
Hundreds of them for sale on flea bay.

My dad and his neighbor used to work on boat engines. He was complaining about a mix up in the wiring. I asked why they didn't take a picture before they took it apart. "Who the heck carries a camera around! " he snapped. Uuummmmm... I had to explain that to him very gently. He accepted it as a genius idea though.

Yep, my tablet has taken maybe as many pics as I have taken with my phone, (both built in cameras). Sometimes when traveling I'd take my tablet as a substitute for a laptop and use the camera often (I was still in the 19th century until just a couple years ago when I got a smart phone. Didn't feel I had to be connected to a communication device every where I went and 24 hrs a day)...

I've been using an old cell phone, but the bigger screen might be nice. Mother-in-law just passed away and I got one of her two tablets. Extremely slow and doesn't do anything I can't already do with a phone or laptop.

Now I'll have to find something else to do with that old phone.
