This is a request to all Trombone owners around the world!
I am trying to find the year of manufacture of both my fathers and my own FN Trombones.
My father bought his new in about 1956. It has a 6 digit serial number with NO letters, and I am guessing it was a '55 or '56 manufacture. It does not have a grooved receiver, but does have a steel butt plate. Also, you must release the trigger after each shot in order to re set the trigger sear.
Mine only has a 5 digit serial number "61405". It has a grooved receiver and steel butt plate and is able to be fired by continuosly pumping the action with no need to release the trigger ( the same as with the model '06 Winchester pump).
My request is, could people who own a Trombone and have a good idea of the year of manufacture, please post the serial number details, year of manufacture and any other details i.e grooved receiver, steel butt plate etc.
Your assistance would possibly help myself and others to date our Pre 1958 Trombones.
Any help would me greatly appreciated.
