So I'm going to get a new buttstock for my Bushmaster AR. It currently uses a fixed stock with a commercial buffer tube, and I was planning on moving to a six-position telestock. Most of the package kits I was looking at come with mil-spec buffer tubes.

Here's the question: can I move from a commercial to military buffer tube and not cause any problems in my rifle, so long as the telestock parts kit is quality?

Buy the buffer tube depending on the stock you want. Magpul stocks come in commercial and Mil-spec versions. (for example)

Remember that you must use a carbine length buffer and spring.
The rifle length buffer and spring will not work in a carbine tube.
