You sure they're flash chromed? They just look case hardened to me.
The cylinder release latch looks flash chromed though.
Some of them are, some aren't. I have M66's and M65's with both styles. The later guns(from what I've observed) have the case hardened parts(or mim with a case hardened appearance).
Incidentally, all of the M65's are PD trade ins and had lots of scratches and scuffs. I'm working on refinishing one of them right now. I started out with 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper to remove the majority of them, and then went to 1000 grit. After I got all the 600 grit marks out of the surface, I went to 1200 grit(from the 1000) and used a little oil while sanding/polishing. I'm debating on whether or not to use the 1500 grit I have, but I probably won't. I guess if I really wanted to get pimp gun shine I could go for some 2000 grit. Some flitz or other polishing compound will more than likely get the look I want.
