Will repro parts work on original cap and ball guns to restore them to shooting condition? I was going to look for an original remmington 44 and restore it.

It would not surprise me to find out that there are repro parts for your gun,go on the net.
As far as parts from a reproduction of your gun that is a whole different thing. For Colts there are reproductions of the original parts, could be for the Remington as well.
I can get parts for a Manhatten .36 Pocket just hope they fit.

I remember Uberti once claimed that their parts would fit originals except if they were threaded for screws, as they use metric and the American guns used English threads.
I never checked it out on handguns, and I don't know if they still make this claim.

I did once replace the trigger safety interlock spring on my Uberti Win. 1873 with an original, and it worked fine, but no threads were involved.

I pulled a hand out of my Uberti Walker and put it in an original first model Dragoon, and it worked perfectly (no I don't fire the Dragoon, but the gun cycles perfectly).

Thanks Kaeto, now I have to find one at a decent price. I like the looks of a solid frame revolver like the Remington. My father in law had one years ago that was in excellant shape. It looked as though it had been used very little and I would not have hesitated firing it.
