Normally I like to CC my Glock G19 but in the summer, when I'm usually just wearing a tshirt and jeans, it prints more then I like. Thats why I bought a P7. Flat and thin and with my Raven Concealment holster it conceals nicely. The problem is rust. My P7 has the original finish and its just not doing the job. I'm a sweater and even after oiling the weapon regularly I get rust easily under the grips and sometimes on the front left portion of the slide. Think I'm gonna get the Metacol treatment from arizonaresponsesystems.com so I can start CC'ing it again. Anyone use this? In the interim I started carrying my Glock G26. Its a little fatter then I would like for the summer but at least it doesnt rust on me.

Do you carry IWB? Could perspiration be penetrating your holster? Is the gun's grip next to your bare skin (no undershirt)? This seems odd considering the climate you live in.

Some people have toxic sweat that would take the chrome off a trailer hitch ball.

If you are one of those folks, there is nothing wrong with you, but it will take more then bluing to protect a CCW weapon.

Yeah I carry IWB with the grip on my bare skin. True Washington doesn't get that hot and if I'm not really doing anything outside sweat isn't a problem. However if I'm moderately active at all I do exhibit "toxic sweat" :D I helped a friend move early in the summer and I sweated all over it and had rust under the grips at the end of the day. I went home to Kentucky and was shooting at an indoor range with crappy AC and the same thing happened.

I like that robar finish but I prefer a black or blued look. Wish I could get Glock's tenifer finish for my P7.

Okay, how about Roguard from the same company, Robar.
Roguard is a molybdenum-disulfide based polymer finish specifically designed to provide lubricity and corrosion protection for metal components exposed to harsh environments.
Originally formulated as a protective coating for firearms applications, Roguard provides the lubrication and corrosion protection necessary to meet U.S. Military Machine Gun Dry Firing Requirements after 60 days sea water immersion or 1000 hours salt spray MIL-STD-TEST.
Roguard is polymer technology at its best. Twice as hard as Polymax and twice as corrosion-resistant, Roguard will take far more punishment than any other black finish available - tested both in the laboratory and in the field. Lifetime guarantee* against peeling, flaking and corrosion!

There is also Tactikote from Metaloy, Black-T from Walter Birdsong, Melanite from Drakes Gun Works, and Cera-hide from CCR refinishing.

I think any of these would work for you - good luck!

i think they only accept guns from gunsmith's...as opposed to the general public

i'm having it done to a 1911 i'm having built by Drake Oldham of Drake's Gun Works...he's in Ohio, but i don't know if he'll take in guns just for refinishing.

i'm also having a Sig 220ST, that is having other work, done...it can't be done to an alloy frame (too much heat)...by Grayguns in Oregon
