After selling my Sig which I no longer carry anymore, I purchased a Savage 16 in .223. The gun has the accustock and accutrigger, 24" fluted med contor barrel (1 in 9" twist).
After mounting a bushnell 4200 elite 3-9X40 on it, I proceeded to go through the boring break-in routine.
Prior to the next trip to the range, I loaded some Sierra 69g matchking bullets over various charges of Reloader 15 to an OAL of 2.300". Attached are the worst and best 5 shot groups at 100 yards.
My third trip to the range, I shot three 3 shot groups at 100 yards of Reloader 15 at 25.5g. The average for these groups was .462".
In summary, I have been extremely pleased with this little gun thus far. The stock is very ridgid, and I REALLY like the accutrigger. Balance and weight of the rifle are excellent, and the little 4200 scope is very clear (only paid $200 for it new) and it seems a good fit for the rifle as I don't like high magnification scopes.
Next to come are some reloads using Hornady's 75g A-max... not sure how these will stabalize with the 1-9" twist, but its worth a try.
