i always go "over the top" on the safety rules, especially for new shooters. i wasn't trying to be condescending. learning the safety basics is just as important as learning sight picture and trigger control (probably more important).

anyway, kleanbore makes some very good suggestions. i'm not the one to ask about safeties as i don't even like to carry my 1911 "cock and lock".

My impression is that she won't practice more than a couple of times a year due to her job. She isn't petite but doesn't qualify as a big handed woman. And zero prior experience.

In that case, snubbies are out of the question, as far as I am concerned. They're not "ladies pistol," they're a niche tools for a pro.

I might direct her towards SP101 with 38 Special.
