I enjoy restoring old grips, mainly S&W revolver, and continue to have an issue with the grip screws. Sometimes missing, often buggered up. Smith & Wesson used quite s few different sizes depending on the gun and grip style. Finding replacements can be a bear. I see Brownells has an unthreaded screw assortment that might help out, allowing me to make my own. Any ideas or suggestions?

You might try looking for that type of screw at a place called "Fastenall" if that's how it's spelled. They have the best assortment of screws I've seen. I always thought that if I had to come up with a screw for one of my Smith's grips, I might try to replace it with an allen head stainless screw. Now that is if I'm not worrying about originality.
I wonder why gun makers don't just go ahead and use counter sunk allen heads wherever possible? Sure would make it easier to remove/replace them without boogers.
Hope this helps,
gondo
