This is today's gunshow find #1.
The box was labeled as containing 100 .454 mini balls.
They weigh between 155 - 158 grains.
Their diameter seems to average about .452 at the base and narrows slightly on the way up.
These appear to be suitable for C&B revolvers, has anyone ever tried shooting any of these or similar mini's?
Since they clearly look like they're cast, does the bullet style look like it comes from a recognizable mold?

Interesting ,for some reason Rapine comes to mind but the mold number escapes me.

Should be a good Deer bullet from a rifle instead of revolvers.

I gotta agree with Voodoochile, it looks like one of Ray Rapine's. He make's them in .45 and 44/40

Even though the .45 Buffalo Ball-et pistol bullet weighs 180 grains, I could never get it to shoot any good out of a 1 in 48" twist rifle.
I tried the Lee 200 grain roundnose revolver bullet and I couldn't get that to shoot any good out of a rifle either.
155 grains seems to be too light for a deer bullet, but then I just target plink with a .45 rifle anyway.
So you don't think that this mini could be a decent C&B revolver bullet? I think that I'd rather shoot a lighter bullet at paper than a heavier bullet.
Would the mini expand too rapidly while still in the chamber and ruin any potential for accuracy.
Thanks for the info about the Rapine mold and all of your thoughts. It won't matter much if these won't shoot any good.
But I'm still optimistic. :)

BTW, very soft lead was used to cast these mini's!

Well a lot of fellas around here use the .38 Rapine hollow based bullets in converted '51 Navy's to make up the difference between the .357 revolver bullet, and the round ball which is typically .375-.380. Seems like the .45 minie would come in handy if you had an old original with a worn bore or a badly out of spec modern clone...It's a good thing the lead is soft,as otherwise I doubt a safe revolver charge would cause them to obturate much. They sure look cool.
