FPrice... the Model 29's just look like that! It's almost breath taking in person... these pics don't even do justice to the high-polish bluing on this 1978 vintage S&W. I have another, a 29-3, that has, remarkably, an even nicer finish than this one, if that's possible. They're magnificent revolvers... I never realized the majesty of the 29 until I got my first one just a week ago! Now I have two 29's and they're my most prized S&W revolvers!

I don't enjoy shooting full-house .44 mag loads, though, but found that the caliber becomes a dream caliber for the reloader... you can tailor make nice soft .44 mag loads which are in the .44 special range or go a little hotter for defense use (I use ProLoad's .44 mag "Lite" which has a 200 gr. Gold Dot bullet moving at about 1070 fps from the 4" tube.) This 200 gr. load at 1050 to 1070 is also my practice load. It's a little warm, but still quite gentle on the gun and on the shooter... very enjoyable indeed and makes the .44 mag caliber just pure fun to shoot.

Frenchy.... thanks.. glad you like it... I needed a change from the wood table setting I've been using for awhile.

Not sure if I posted these here in this thread before, but this is another outdoor setting with my 629 Mountain Gun.

Wow :D !! Don, awesome outdoorsy pics!! Congrats on the new addition. I don't even have a .44 yet in my collection....someday. Thanks for the pics!

Nice soft contrast, Don. I'm a fan of the natural settings.
It's a little harder to control things, but the overall layout makes up for it (in my case)! :D

BluesBear... my wheels are already beginning to turn in that direction. Not sure when it will all come together, but I'm starting to work on it. Only thing is, there are a lot of guns some folks would want to see in it that I don't have!

So you have to buy more guns for your new book business, and can write them off on taxes?! I'm not seeing a downside here. Well, finding the money maybe. And BluesBear and I will help you find the guns, being the semi-pro gunshoppers we are.

Hey Bart... at least we're all in Washington State! If you have guns that should be in the book, perhaps we should talk...a gun loan for pics should at least be worth a copy of the calendar (or book). :)

I always thought my 3" Lew Horton Model 29 was very photogenic.

It's original smooth finger grooved stocks aren't as pretty as your Ahrends but they do have some better than average figuring.

My 6" Washington State patrol Model 28-2 ain't no slouch in the looks department either.

I just washed my hands and I can't do a thing with them. :banghead:

I went back and corrected it.

note to self...
S & W .44 magnum is 3"
Taurus .44 special is 2"

I love .44 Special's!

Used to have a Lew Horton S&W Mod. 24 with the 3 inch pipe and the K-frame round butt. One of those revolvers I kick myself in the butt for having sold!

I'd love to come by one of those Thunder Ranch .44 Specials...

well this one is out of date as I have added 4 or 5 since it was taken, I tried to retake the pic but I cant fit all of em and get far enough away to take a picture that you can still see any detail.

I put all the original shoes on em for this pic too. thought it lent a touch of class.
