Grafs has Rex Powder on sale--$26.95 for 2.2 pounds, and if you buy five of those they'll pay the hazmat charges.

They show some loads for it in the Grafs flyer, and Rex #2 can be used for both 9mm and .45 (which I have), so it looks intriguing.

Have any of you used this? How was it? Meter well? Pet loads? Eleven pounds of powder for $139.50 would be a great deal if it works well.

If you look on their website, at page 25 of their most recent flyer, they indicate loads for various calibers.

I found a thread from about a year ago on this but there was no information on someone using Rex and ultimately how well it performed.

I read that it was supposed to be analogous to W231, a powder I love, but the proof is in the pudding. And I won't buy 11 pounds only to find it works worse than WST or W231.

I've been using Rex 2 for about 4/5 years now. I reload with 2 considerations in mind, accuracy and lighter loads because of arthritis, don't like pain. Its a fairly small flat round flake powder, measures easily in my Lee Pro-Disk. All in all I like it. Do a search on cast bollets.com, they have more info.

Powder is the cheapest component in reloading.

I'll continue using USA made Alliant powders and do my cost cutting elsewhere.

I'm using Rex 2 in .357 MAG and I can say it's excellent. It's not clean, but it certainly is not the dirtiest. It meters well, but not as good as ball powders. I use 158 gr jacketed SWC over 8 grains of it - that's powerful enough to shoot cans at 100 meters, but it's not as hard on your hand as full power .357MAG.
Also it fills the case just up to the bullet base, which is good.
I hope this helps.

Rex2 is a little difficult to meter, but it is an excellent powder for target loads in 9mm e 45 ACP.
For .45 ACP I recommend 4.7 grains of REX2 with a 200 LSWC bullet, 1.250" OAL, WLP primers.

Now that's funny! Alliant does not manufacture powder. Their powder is either manufactured in Canada or Austrailia. Alliant is simply a distributor.

Besides shotgun data, there are loads for 9mm; 38 and 39+P; 38 Super;40S&W; and 45ACP.

I just ordered a can of Rex III from PVI (I wanted II but they were out.) I forgot to add it to the order it the previous 2 times I bought primers or powder.

It should get here Friday when the gunpowder fairy makes her delivery. :D It looks like it might be a direct replacement for SR-7625. Both are single-base powders with similar burn rates to Universal. I'll figure out something to burn it up in...

I began using REX-II several years ago, because of the price. My primary use was for 12 ga shotshells. Have also used REX-II for 9mm with cast bullets. I have no complaints with the powders. Even seven years ago, availability was spotty. Grafs always gave me a story about container ships and Customs. Because of poor availability, I was forced to move on to other propellants.
