I'm having an issue with my Bersa pistol. The magazine disconnector spring seems to be dismounting from the magazine catch on my Bersa Thunder .380 which either results from a feed jam or is causing the jam to begin with. Also, I have to load 6 rounds instead of 7, since loading a full magazine will result in a jam. There are no gouges on the feed ramp, so I'm not really sure why I'm having issues cycling ammo. I have only put around 100 rounds through this pistol over the past year. Additionally, I seem to have had a number of double fires, which has been rather perplexing. Lastly, my pistol seems to be shaving some brass off of cartridges, regardless of which brand I use.

Eagle Importing send me a link of authorized warranty repairers, but I've never had to ship a gun for repair before. What is the process involved?

Check out Bersachat.com. If I remember correctly they ALL recommend Colorado. I guess there's a guy there that works magic on the Bersa's. We just bought a .380cc last week & put 100rds through it this last weekend. We ran PMC & Blazers through it with two FTF & no FTE. The FTF were in fact the last round from the mag. She was loading 8 in it but after 3-4 mags, the problem stopped. What a brass thrower that little pistol is too!! I was standing 20ft away from her on her right & some of the casings were actually flying over my head. I didn't notice any of the brass getting shaved though. That is interesting too? Can you tell where it's coming from? Only thing I can think of is you have sharp edges on the mag or the throat. You said only 100rds have been through your's? That's still pretty new. I read in that Bersa forum that you should take the mags apart & inspect them for sharp edges etc & sand or file them. You also said that the mag spring keeps poppingoff the tab? I believe that's under the right cover?

I suspect you have a burr or sharp edge on the mag. It's not even "Broke in" yet at 100rds. IMO I'd inspect for edges etc being so new still & put a couple 100 more rds through it before sending it in. Also, are you using the factory mags or the Pmags? I'm still not convinced that they have worked out all the bugs with the Pmags. The reviews seem to be 50/50 on both sides. Althought if you fo in fact have to send it in, like I said I believe it's Colorado where you want to send it.

I'm using the factory mag, and mine hates Blazer. I felt around for sharp edges, but didn't seem to find any that were suspect. I can't even get another 100 rounds through it, because I'm averaging one jam / spring unseating every other clip, regardless of what ammo I use. I have NEVER had this many problems with a Bersa before.

With my Bersa 45acp I had a ftf about every other mag full. Typically the pistol failed to re-enter battery. All I had to do was touch the slide with my thumb and it would drop into battery. It is my understanding that most Bersas have problems with feed issues until you've run several hundred rounds through them. That fits my profile. I've run over 1000 rounds through mine and haven't had a problem in the past 300-400 rounds.

Sounds like you have a much more serious problem than most, though. I sent my Lasserre Comanche to Reynersons for alignment problems with the barrel/magazine. They couldn't get the parts to effect a repair in a timely manner and sent me a replacement handgun instead. The only problem with that was the cost for the FFL to receive the new handgun. I was very satisfied with their response to my needs. I have never had dealings with Colorado Gun Works but have heard good comments on their work and customer relations.

I don't know that I would wait to send it in. This sounds like a more serious issue than most Bersa owners report from their new weapons.
