I recently bought a new in the box RG Industries model 14 .22 revolver for $50. It is still in the box and was purchased from True Value Hardware for $100. It seems like a decent .22 revolver. However, the quality is no where near a S&W revolver. Anybody know anything about these little revolvers?

I had one, threw it away. It was such poor quality it was dangerous. I had an AD with it, failed to pick up the sear when I cocked it. Fortunately, I was obaying the rules and pointing it down range and fired into the backstop. At that point, I tossed the POS. DA was like, click, click, bang, click, bang, click, click.......and, it spit lead it was so out of time. Whadda POS! Shoulda known better, but I was in college and broke at the time and just didn't know what i was getting.

100 bucks? Wow, that guy got screwed, rofl! I paid $16.95 for mine at Gibson's Discount in Lake Jackson, Texas about 1974.

However, the quality is no where near a S&W revolver.

ROFL, you should Pulitzer prize for understatement on that line! :D

Sorry I sound so negative on it. I try to look for the good things in any gun, but the RG was lacking any and I really feel that particular one was an accident waiting to happen. It was pathetic. Be careful if you're going to fire that thing. Remember to be muzzle aware and be careful about releasing the hammer when you cock it single action that it catches the sear and is pointed down range. Also, if you intend to load it for any period of time, leave an empty chamber under the hammer.

No problem. I asked. I figure it's only a .22, so I'm not so worried like I would be if it was higher caliber. I just figured $50 wasn't too bad for a revolver to bang around with. I don't have to worry about scratching it up and crying like I would with my NICE handguns.

There have been a great number of threads on these in the past. Popular opinion says to keep it until you get offered $55 for it.

I believe the saying goes "Any gun is better than no gun" but in relation to an RG 14 I am not so sure!

Man I thought I had a decent deal at $50. You guys make me feel ashamed to be seen with it. Oh well, I did buy an Egyptian Hakim in very good condition for $150 from the same guy. He was an older man and he listed 4 military guns for sale in the local newspaper. I called him up and after he told me what he had for the price, I left work immediately.

take it out and shoot it before you give up on it. I've know a few RGs that actually worked and were accurate at close range.

I had an RG .25 years ago. Its lack of quality proved to my satisfaction that RG stands for Rotten Gun.

I believe it was. I have RG 10 on my mind but am pretty sure it was a 14

$100.00
True Value doesn't live up to their store name because they seriously hosed the original buyer!

I had an RG26 I actually carried a lot back in the day, a cheap little .25 auto. That thing fed 100 percent with ball or winchester pellet nose and never broke. I shot it a lot. It wasn't terribly accurate, but at very close range, it'd get the job done. But, the revolver was another story.

From what these guys on the rifle forum have told me, you got a deal on that Hakim. I bought one when they were available from the wholesalers for $80, from Israeli arsenals, never fired, dropped once in the sand. The thing is in fantastic shape with some bumps and scrapes on the stock, but the metal is probably 95 percent finish and emaculate. From what I'm told, they go for from $400 to $600 now days and are a bit hard to find. I ain't firin' mine much anymore, just keep it and let the value go up, LOL! The thing is a blast to shoot, though, hardly any recoil and in 8x57. You can rip 'em off at a rather high cycle rate and not worry about muzzle climb, heavy, long, and a good muzzle break. It impresses the tacticool crowd when you whip that thing out at the range, LOL! It's like a BAR or something. It's pretty danged accurate, too! It's so big and heavy, it's sorta useless, but it sure is a fun gun at the range. I think you made up for your losses on the RG with that Hakim, anyway, LOL!

You balanced out. The RG is junk, I had one waaaay back in the day, couldn't waitto getrid ofthe pile. The Hakim is outstanding, that's a great deal on a really fine rifle.

At a recent Tucson gun show some slimeball was selling an RG single action .22 for $200 - "MADE IN GERMANY!", hoping for a sucker.
