Bought a Rock Island Baby Rock for myself last week and got it to the range this morning. Awesome little gun, and not a single failure right out of the box. Fired a box of WWB and 50 of my own cream puff reloads with cast round nose bullets.

If you like 1911 style and .380, I highly recommend it.

I'll try and attach a photo of it posed with the full size 1911. Here's hoping...

Indeed, RIA, make a good, solid products, at a very affordable price point.

So far a full size 1911, an officers 1911, and the revolver that looks like a detective special, have not dissapointed.

A caveat for lefties however; last year I asked a RIA customer service rep if I could get a baby rock with an ambidextrous safety, even as a customer installed option. I was told a flat 'No'. Otherwise I'd have one.

The only thing I don't like about this pistol is the excessively long grip. It's almost as long as afull size 1911 in 45 Auto. It makes the guns little harder to conceal.

I've been wanting one. How much and where? I wonder how it compares to the Browning 1911 .380. My EDC is a full sized Armscor 1911 and I've been wanting a smaller but familiar version for occasional carry.

I tried to get one before my last NJ permit expired but they sold out so fast at the places I was watching and I kept missing out. Just as well....spent to much for Christmas anyway. Will get one next year. Good luck with yours.

Jimster - mid $400's and at my LGS (deoutdoors.com). He occasionally gets some cool, little lesser know stuff - like a few months ago I bought a RIA M200, also a nice reliable piece. There is a BBR on GB right now; http://www.gunbroker.com/item/609367659

No idea how it compares to the Browning, but if you ever vacation to central FL, send me a PM ahead of time and I'll meet you at the range so you can check it out.

bumbazine - I'm learning to use my trigger finger to sweep the safety as I raise to shooting position.

The Browning really functions like a 1911 - just smaller. The Baby Rock Island is blowback and only looks like a 1911.
