So - I've been a fan of Rock Island Armory 1911s for a while, though I don't currently own one. I hope to pick up a 51485 (full length pic rail and adjustable sights) sometime, plus potentially a GI model in 9mm.

I'm curious though. On various other sites I've seen models that just don't show up on the main RIA website. In particular a I saw a similar tactical version but the dust cover/pic rail wasn't full-length - more like a Kimber TLE/RL or a Springfield Operator - (I suspect this is one that isn't imported to the US), as well as the same 51485 done in a gray Cerakote instead of the usual parkerized finish.

Honestly, it seems they rarely update the RIA website. Is there another location to look for info/pictures of their current and planned offerings?

RIA has had a blizzard of models and variants. Some sold like hotcakes, others less so. Some appear to have been "runs" of nnnn, and a newer thing built after that run was complete.

Which reflects the firearms industry in a time of just-in-time inventory factory operations. While demand can appear high to an individual, to the factory it can be quite limited.

Despite the sizable online chatter, Brownells was happy to sell the 400 "retro" AR-10 they contracted to build, and is not going to resume production.

Manufacturers keep generating new models and at high frequency, the days of turning out tens of thousands and every one being bought up would appear to be long gone.
