In an earlier post I described how my RIA 10mm 1911 FS Tac 2 was having problems with the magazine becoming unseated and dropping about 1/2 inch when a round was fired. I tried 6 different magazines from different manufacturers as suggested by you guys, including CMC, Mecgar, Kimber and the RIA included magazines. I contacted RIA about the problem and they e-mailed a prepaid FedEx shipping order. In just about 3 weeks the gun was returned. They repaired it, tuned it, lubed it, and test fired it. Not sure what the tuning entailed, but it now functions beattifully. Very accurate and the mags stay seated.

I've had one experience with RIA CS and it was positive as well. They replaced a broken reverse recoil spring plug. I had the part in less than a week.

Good to hear some positive things about a gun company that has decent customer service!

I had a so-so experience. I'm pretty sure that the 1911 double-stack 40 caliber that I bought brand-new wasn't actually made by them. It looks just like a pistol that's made by another Filipino company. I sent it back to them twice, they did stuff to it, and the feed problems weren't fixed at all. The third time I sent it back, I requested a new pistol. A manager replied, saying that wasn't possible (like I said, I don't think they even made it), but he would have "his gunsmith look at it". It was finally returned to me in working order, though it is still finicky about ammo.

I'm not slamming on the company, which seems to normally make pretty good pistols for a good price, I'm just relating my experience. Now that it's actually fixed (the problem involved the slide lever), it's a very fun shooter with the right ammo. If your hands are large enough, a double-stack 40 caliber 1911 has the felt recoil of a mild 9mm. The sights and trigger are nice. I just wish it didn't take so much trouble to reach its potential.

They have always been good to work with in my experience. I had an officer's model with a wandering stop pin. They looked at it twice and got it running just fine. I'm reasonably sure it was user error to some degree where my hand was bumping against it when it fired.

I'm thinking about getting into 10mm, and the RIA GI is way up on my potential list.

My experience as an FFL is completely opposite. I've never had a brand that required more new guns to be returned for warranty work than RIA guns. I have sent more back to service for my customers than any other brand. I always had problems getting ahold of someone who could give me a status update on a returned gun. It finally got the breaking point several years ago. One of my best customers had a gun sent back and it had been several weeks so I called to get an update. I could not get in touch with a single live person. I called every single option in the phone system just to get a live person even in a totally different department that could get me transferred to someone who could answer my question. There was not a single person who answered the phone at any of the phone options, even accounting. Most of the options had a message saying that the person's voicemail was full and you couldn't leave a message. And forget about getting anyone to answer the week before, the week of, and the week after SHOT show each year also.

Because of this, I completely stopped carrying RIA guns at my shop. I won't even special order them for customers because I refuse to have to deal with RIA in the event that customer needs to send a gun back. I tell my customers if they want an RIA to order it from somewhere else online and I'll give them a deal on the transfer fee. I can't stand RIA customer service and I've had to use it a LOT over the years.

Matches my experience withi RIA/Armscor over the years, got my first around 2004 when pretty much nobody had heard of them. New for $289 out the door for my first GI model, Been a fan ever sense.

Search the forum, I posted details of my great experience when one of my oldest ones broke, well over 10K rounds. I've always contacted them via Email or the on-line chat feature on their web-site.
